Families Plus
- Families Plus is an intense home based program designed to work with families in crisis whose children are at a high risk of removal and placement in out-of-home care.
- Families Plus is a collaborative program working closely with workers from the Department of Community Services.
- Families Plus is a voluntary service consisting of two phases. During the 12 week Intensive, in-home visits occur several times a week. During the Step-Down phase, visit frequency is slowly decreased based on family need.
- Families Plus offers a 24/7 support line to families connected to the program.
Families Plus is offered in many communities in Nova Scotia. Referrals are accepted from the following locations:
- An African Nova Scotian site is available in the Central region
- Antigonish
- Bridgewater
- Central Region
- Kentville
- New Glasgow
- Sydney
- Truro
Families Plus service is initiated through a direct referral from a Department of Community Services worker.
